Community Meeting on Transportation Hosted by Commissioner Vilma D. Leake
Mecklenburg County Commissioner Vilma D. Leake, District 2, invites the public to this community meeting on Tuesday, July 22 from 6:00PM - 7:30PM (doors open at 5:30PM). The meeting will feature a presentation from the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) and include information on services, plans to expand transit in the region, and the 1-cent sales tax referendum. Interested residents are encouraged to RSVP to this site no later than Monday, July 21.

The meeting will feature a presentation from Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS), a panel of community stakeholders who will present differing views and include information for residents to consider regarding the 1-cent sales tax referendum. Interested residents are encouraged to RSVP to this site no later than Monday, September 22.

Catherine M. Wilson Center Celebration
Please join us to celebrate the renaming of 301 Billingsley Road in honor of Catherine M. Wilson, the first African American program administrator at the Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services. The celebration will be Saturday, September 27th at 10:30 a.m.
Wilson joined the Department of Social Services in 1947, retiring after 37 years of service to the residents of Mecklenburg County. Her tenure was marked by her humble leadership, wealth of knowledge, and unwavering dedication to clients. The Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners approved the renaming in honor of Wilson in October 2024. During this ceremony, we will honor Wilson’s legacy and her enduring impact on the residents of Mecklenburg County. Light refreshments will be served.

The meeting will include remarks from the new County Manager Mike Bryant and presentations on services and the FY26 budget. Residents will have an opportunity to offer feedback and ask questions.
