Mallard Creek - David Taylor Drive

Mallard Creek - David Taylor Drive

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is planning to enhance the existing greenway trail between David Taylor Drive and Mallard Creek Road. The project will include paving of gravel trail, new connections, a trailhead parking lot and restrooms. The current schedule for the project is sometime after 2030 and is dependent on Charlotte Water’s construction schedule for the sewer main replacement in this area.

The Mallard Interceptor Project is a major wastewater improvement project designed to increase sewer capacity, reduce the amount of rainwater and groundwater entering the sewer system, and help prevent sewer overflows as the area continues to grow. Construction is currently expected to begin in Fall 2029 and be completed in Spring 2031.

The project will install approximately 3 miles of new 60-inch sewer pipe, beginning near the intersection of Toby Creek and North Tryon Street and continuing along Mallard Creek ending at Mallard Creek Road. The larger sewer line will provide additional capacity for future growth and improve the reliability of the wastewater system.
