Planning Today for South Meck’s Tomorrow
On January 21, 2026, the Mecklenburg County Board of County Commissioners adopted the Comprehensive Plan For Unincorporated South Mecklenburg.
Mecklenburg County and the City of Charlotte collaborated to develop the Comprehensive Plan For Unincorporated South Mecklenburg. This plan provides future land use guidance and fulfills state requirements for land use planning for the project area, located in the unincorporated area of south Mecklenburg County, bordered by Lancaster Highway, Providence Road West, the town limits of Pineville, and the South Carolina border.

South Mecklenburg Community Meeting - Phase 2 (Virtual)
In the Phase 1 Community Meetings in June, there was significant interest and questions regarding the annexation process. Staff has decided to allocate the first part of the August meetings to discuss the annexation process and to answer questions related to this.
